Massage treatment is a very safe and efficient therapy. However, some people might have some minor side effects, such as soreness, dizziness, headache, sleepiness or fatigue. There are some tips to help you to decrease the symptoms.
< Before massage>
* Stay hydrated- water carries oxygen and nutrients to muscles and helps to remove metabolic waste from your muscles. Being well hydrated enable your muscles to work longer before they feel tired.
* Complete the client health form- Though massage treatment is non- invasive, however, there are some certain conditions are contraindicated massage. Let the massage therapist know about your health history to avoid aggravating your symptoms.
* Know your goals for the massage, e.g. relieving pain in a particular spot, improving range of motion or rehabilitating injury, this allows the therapist to provide the best possible treatment.

< After massage>
* Continue to have plenty of water which improves blood flow and circulation.
* Stretching after a treatment can maintain the looseness in muscles and tissues, keep joints mobile, and improve flexibility.
* Apply heat pack- if you feel soreness after massage, applying a heat pack on the sore spots which helps to reduce fascia tension and muscle pain.
* Have a good rest to allow your muscles to recover from the massage treatment.
* Book a follow up treatment- receiving massage regularly will get the most benefits. How often you have a massage depends on your individual's condition. Discuss it with your therapist.
